Teleférico De Gaia (cable Car)
Cable car offering panoramic views over Porto and Gaia
Teleférico de Gaia lifts you from the Jardim do Morro station high above Vila Nova de Gaia to the Cais de Gaia dock, giving a bird’s‑eye view of Porto’s historic centre and the Douro River. The ride lasts only a few minutes, but the panorama is striking: rooftops, the Dom Luís I bridge and, at sunset, the city glows in warm tones.
Tickets are inexpensive: a one‑way adult fare costs €7.00 and €3.50 for children aged 5‑12, while round‑trip tickets are €10.00 for adults and €5.00 for children. Families can save with a 2‑adult + 2‑child round‑trip pass (€22.50), and frequent visitors may opt for a monthly pass that allows up to four round trips per day for €39.00 (adult) or €19.50 (child). All tickets remain valid for 30 days, and the monthly pass is personal and non‑transferable, recharged at the high‑station.
Operating hours change with the season. In low‑season (January 1 – March 23 and October 25 – December 31) the cable car runs 10:00‑18:00, closing on Christmas Day. Mid‑season (late March‑April and late September‑October) extends to 19:00, and high‑season (late April‑late September) runs until 20:00, with a brief 10:00‑19:00 window on June 23.
For the best photos and shorter queues, visit during off‑peak hours—early morning or late afternoon before the sunset crowd builds. The cable car’s simple ticket booths close at 16:00, so plan your purchase accordingly and enjoy a smooth, scenic crossing of the Douro.
