Cabo Girão Skywalk sits on the edge of the town of Câmara de Lobos, about a 20‑minute drive west of Funchal. At 580 m above sea level it is one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs, dropping straight onto the Atlantic and the terraced vineyards that line the coast. The main attraction is the transparent glass floor that lets you look down at the sheer drop; it creates a thrilling perspective, though visitors with a fear of heights may want to pause at the railings first.

The viewpoint opens daily at 08:00. In winter the closing time is 19:00, while summer hours extend to 21:00. Admission costs €2 per person, free for Madeira residents, and tickets are sold on site without the need for advance reservation. Parking is available right at the entrance, and public transport is convenient: bus route 7 from Funchal to Ribeira Brava stops directly outside, so no walking is required.

A typical visit lasts around 15 minutes, but many stay longer to soak in the panoramic scenery of the Atlantic, the neighboring cliffs and the lush valleys below. The skywalk also serves as a good starting point for nearby Levada do Norte hikes, allowing you to combine the dramatic cliff view with a walk through Madeira’s historic irrigation channels.
